PAICV leader engages in marathon campaigning on Santo Antão

Prime Minister José Maria Neves, as leader of the governing PAICV party, will present his political project for the party to PAICV supporters on the island of Santo Antão in a meeting in which he will explain the reasons why is running for re-election as party president. The PAICV leader will be in Paúl at 5:00 pm on Saturday, and will speak to party militants in Porto Novo, on the other side of the island, two hours later.

The president of the PAICV will race against time in order to explain the contents of his new political project to the largest possible number of party supporters and members all over the country prior to internal party elections on October 4. This Thursday morning, he will present his Strategy Motion to the media, after which he will embark upon an internal campaign for the PAICV elections, in which is he the sole candidate.

Having just returned from the United States, where he participated in a lunch with US President Barack Obama and other African leaders to discuss the continent’s future, José Maria Neves immediately left for the country’s northern islands for political activities.

This weekend, the PAICV leader will visit all three municipalities on the island of Santo Antão to speak with party supporters. After visiting Paúl and Porto Novo on Saturday, he will speak to party militants in Ribeira Grande on Sunday.
