Reducing unemployment among younger age brackets, promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship, guaranteeing ways to continue one’s studies on the level of higher learning and creating the conditions to facilitate home ownership among young adults are, according to Janira Hopffer Almada, the three main points on the youth agenda of Prime Minister José Maria Neves, who is running for re-election as the leader of governing party PAICV. These challenges were outlined by Janira Hopffer Almada, Neves’ special youth liaison, as she officially presented Neves’ candidacy to the PAICV’s National Jurisdiction and Oversight Commission. Almada also stressed the highlights given to education. “It was José Maria Neves who, as Prime Minister, authorized the installation of Cape Verde’s first private university, made professional training centers available to more youths and fulfilled the dream of the University of Cape Verde,” enumerated Almada. “In the last eight years, José Maria Neves clearly invested in youths, who now have new expectations and new demands.” As such, “he also represents the leadership with the responses and the solutions for these new expectations, these new times,” guarantees Janira Hopffer Almada. |
