Saturday, 12 January 2008 16:25    PDF Print E-mail

Three Brazilian university professors, specialists in Portuguese-language African literature, are in Cape Verde to become more familiar with Cape Verdean literature. The three have already met with Minister of Culture Manuel Veiga and with the Cape Verdean Association of Writers.

One of the main items on the agenda of the three professors from the University of Belo Horizonte (Maria Nazareth Fonseca, Teresa Moreira and Vera Ferreira) is the creation the International Association of African Literary and Cultural Studies.

The Association is expected to be made official in 2010, and a work commission has been created, made up of various writers and researchers, among them Cape Verdean writer Vera Duarte, with whom the Brazilian professors are slated to meet as well.

Maria Nazareth Fonseca, Teresa Moreira and Vera Ferreira will also visit the city of Mindelo next week.
