Cape Verdean painter Nelson Neves and journalist Henri Fischback, representing a number of different non-governmental organizations from Luxembourg, offered more than a ton of school materials to students in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, on the island of Santo Antão. Part of the material was distributed to various different elementary schools in the municipality, but most was given directly to needy students from the Suzete Delgado secondary school.
In a short speech at Suzete Delgado school, Henri Fischback highlighted the fact that all of the materials, estimated at more than 400,000 Cape Verdean escudos, were the result of efforts on the part of the NGOs Spencer Committee and Clae, as well as a number of Luxembourg schools and private citizens. Funds also came from the sale of a documentary film about Nelson Neves, telling the story of the Ribeira Grande natives childhood.
, Fischback and Neves assured those present that this would not be the last time they would support Ribeira Grandes students, and promised to work so that a number of students from the Suzete Delgado school can travel to Luxembourg for an educational exchange with pupils from the European Grand Duchy.  , The two also promised to bring students from Luxembourg to Cape Verde and to mobilize efforts to install drinking fountains in Ribeira Grandes secondary school.  , This is the second time that promoters of this type of initiative have traveled to Ribeira Grande to distribute school supplies donated from Luxembourg. |
