The Resort Group PLC plans to build six resorts on the island of Boa Vista over the next 12 to 15 years, bringing the total number of rooms owned by the group on the island to more than 4,300. The plans have already been discussed with the Boa Vista and Maio Integrated Tourist Development Corporation (SDTIBM).

The first of the tourist resorts is the White Sands Beach Hotel & Spa, which will be built on Santa Mónica beach, one of the most beautiful on the island. Construction is slated to begin in September of 2013, but preparatory work is already under way.

The other five resorts planned, according to a well-placed source, will be the object of individual discussion in accordance with an agenda agreed upon with the SDTIBM. “These resorts won’t necessarily be managed by Meliá Hotels International, given that The Resort Group PLC also wants to bring other world-renowned names to Cape Verde,” adds our source.

The Resort Group PLC began its activities in Cape Verde on the island of Sal, where it built three resorts. The first, Meliá Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa, is already fully functional. Construction on the second, the Dunas Beach Resort & Spa, began in September 2010, while work on the third, the Llana Beach Hotel, is slated to begin this year.
