Prime Minister José Maria Neves will preside over the opening of the Public-Private Forum on Residential Tourism this Friday, October 30. The forum, whose theme is Residential Tourism – An opportunity for the future of Cape Verde, is being promoted by Promitur and will be held at Jotamont Music Academy in Mindelo. The event is intended as a way to share impressions and ideas by both the private and public sectors and the various stakeholders in the residential real-estate and tourism market in the country.

According to Promitur, these sectors have been affected by the international financial crisis, causing far-reaching alterations on various levels of the business model and limiting public and private entities’ strategies in terms of conception and promotion. As such, it is hoped that the forum will point out possible solutions allowing for the readjustment of strategies in order to improve the business environment and strengthen factors of competitiveness.

“The main supply and demand trends in the world tourism market” and “Residential tourism in Cape Verde – from investment to commercialization” are among the themes to be discussed during the forum.

Residential tourism is a new market segment in Cape Verde that “affects the development of tourist activities and economic activities in general in a positive and structural way.”
