Portuguese Environmental Minister visits Cape Verde, signs cooperation accord

Portugal's Minister of the Environment, Territorial Ordering and Regional Development, Francisco Nunes Correia, will begin an official visit to Cape Verde today, March 5, to participate in an international workshop on climate and natural resources in Portuguese-language countries, focusing on partnerships in the area of climate and the environment.

Nunes Correia will hold a bilateral work meeting with Cape Verde's Minister of the Environment and Agriculture, Madalena Neves, in order to evaluate and set the agenda for future cooperation between Portugal and Cape Verde in the environmental domain.

The two ministers will meet beginning at 11:00 am today on the island of Sal. This afternoon, they will depart for the neighboring island of Boa Vista to visit a number of locales of environmental (and tourist-related) interest, such as Varandinha, Santa Mónica and Curral Velho.

On Friday, Nunes Correia and Madalena Neves will sign a political declaration and preside over the closing of the international workshop on climate and natural resources.
