Member LoginCape Verdean songstress Suzanna Lubrano will present her long awaited album, Saida! The launch takes place on January 31st at 10 PM at the Cabo Verde meets Brasil Party at Holland Casino (Rotterdam, Netherlands).
Saida (Exit), Suzanna's fourth album, is released by Mass Appeal Entertainment. Backed by a wide array of producers, the diverse pop album contains 19 tracks: from Sexy Cape Verdean Zouk Love to more traditional Cape Verdean Batuku and delicate R&B ballads in English. As a bonus to well over 75 minutes of great music, the album includes a documentary DVD on Suzanna titled Inside and Out. Suzanna's popularity expanded when she was elected Best Female Artist of Africa of the year 2003 at a TV show watched by hundreds of millions of viewers across the globe.
Most songs on Saida were recorded at Blue Jay Recording Studio, Massachusetts, United States, a world class recording studio where artists like Aerosmith, Carly Simon, Boston, Alice Cooper, Roy Orbison, Billy Joel, Tom Jones and many others have worked in the past, and more recently has welcomed names like Rihanna, Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls), Pink, and Lauryn Hill. Some of the other songs were recorded in Studio Latitude, Paris.
Saida contains collaborations with a wide range of composers, musicians, and rappers. For the Zouk tracks Suzanna has worked with Ronald Rubinel (Edith Lefel), Jacob Desvarieux (Kassav'), Quatro Plus, Beto Dias and others. For the R&B tracks with Ryan Toby (City High), Buddha Monk (Brooklyn Zoo Wu-Tang), Nellson Klasszik and Rukiza Ntashamaje (Alizée), the producer of Saida Marcus ‘DL' Siskind(Backstreet Boys, Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill) and Dre Robinson. Among other contributions are those from Cape Verdean and Spanish multi-instrumentalists Kim Alves and Marcos Fernandes as well as Tracy Bonham. Saida was mastered by Tony Dawsey (Jay Z, Nas, Whitney Houston, DMX) at Masterdisk, NYC.
In a sense, Saida has become an unusual album. It's a mainstream pop album on which Zouk, R&B and more traditional Cape Verdean music styles flow into each other. Suzanna is responsible for most vocal melodies and lyrics of the Cape Verdean tracks. For a few tracks, she has written all music, vocal melodies and lyrics.
