Neves to participate in Europe-Africa Summit

Prime Minister José Maria Neves will head the Cape Verdean delegation to the 2nd Europe-African Summit, which will take place in Lisbon on December 8 and 9. According to one source, Neves has decided to "take on a more leading role in foreign policy, and has decided that he himself will attend the African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government that will take place in January of next year."

Cape Verde's participation in the Euro-African Summit to take place in Portugal next month is being carefully prepared, first and foremost because it will occur following the approval of the declaration on Cape Verde's special status by the European Union's Council of General Affairs and Foreign Relations, which will meet Monday and Tuesday of next week in Brussels.

According to one our source, this is one of the reasons that led the Prime Minister to "become personally involved in the Europe-Africa Summit."

Another decision made by José Maria Neves is that he himself will attend the African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government in January of next year. The Prime Minister has also made a point of attending the upcoming ECOWAS Heads of State and Government summit on December 17 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
